What is the format and structure of the certification exam?
The Functional Medicine Certified Professional (FMCP)™ and Functional Medicine Certified Professional – Medical (FMCP-M)™ exams are computer-based, proctored written assessments. Both exams consist of multiple-choice questions (exam items), some of which are unscored pre-test items. Pre-test items are used to collect psychometric data for future exam development and are indistinguishable from scored questions.
The exams contain two detailed patient case studies with 10 associated multiple choice questions per case. These items assess your ability to locate, analyze, and synthesize clinical details from the comprehensive case study scenarios.
You have a maximum of four hours to complete the exam. The exam is delivered in two parts with an optional scheduled 10-minute break in between. Once you submit the first part of the exam, you cannot return to it.
