What are the primary responsibilities of the IBFMC™?
As a volunteer certification board, the IBFMC™ has the authority and responsibility for overseeing essential activities of the Functional Medicine Certification Program™. These responsibilities include:
- Maintaining the functional medicine competencies.
- Setting standards for certification eligibility, initial certification, and maintaining certification.
- Overseeing disciplinary policies and processes, including maintaining the IBFMC™ Code of Professional and Ethical Conduct.
- Ensuring the appropriate development, administration, and scoring of examinations.
- Determining qualifications for subject matter experts (SMEs) who contribute their clinical expertise to the program.
